Non Toxic Code

Here at Hello Beautiful we live by the Non-Toxic code. So many of todays products (toothpaste, lipsticks, shampoo, make up, suncream etc) have many harmful toxic chemicals in them. Chemicals that seep into your skin and live within you for years on end. 8 out of 10 tumours contain toxins including Parabens. Cancer is a growing epidemic and we are using more and more toxic products, to help prevent cancer we have striped out toxins in our everyday life.

So many well known brands products contain parabens (although not all of their products). These include Almay, The Body Shop, Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder, Guerlain, John Frieda, L’Oreal, Maybelline, Max Factor, N0. 7, Olay, Origins, Revlon. To name a few. As part of my Cancer treatment I went to a Look Good Feel Better workshop. And although the incentives were great the products we were given for free where not organic and toxic free. I couldn’t believe that these woman that all had cancer were not being educated on chemical free skin care products and make-up. We at Hello Beautiful aim to educate people on the many great non-toxic products out there.

Below is a selection of what we use.

I came across Dr Hauschka products in Whole Foods. They really help my skin to breathe. Not only are they Organic, but they use raw materials from their own herb garden or from biodynamic cultivation projects. You can count on all their products being free from synthetic fragrances, dyes and preservatives, mineral oils, parabens, silicones and PEG. We love Dr Hauschka.

Although I am the first to admit I am not keen on Arbonne’s buying system. You need to know a representative. Their products are great and last ages. I must have used their mascara for a year! It just kept on giving. If you do want to purchase anything get in touch and I can pass your details onto my consultant.

A great little mascara I found. It lasts for ages. A lot longer than regular mascara I used to buy. I got this Lavera one from Wholefoods.

The Hemp Co range is fantastic. Paraben, DEA and Sulphate free. It’s also cruelty free and vegan. It lasts ages and feels so good. I buy it from the larger Holland & Barrett stores.

Dr Bronner’s range smells fantastic. They are organic and don’t use any foaming agents/detergents like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. I buy mine from Wholefoods but you can buy them from many organic shops around the country and of course online.

Dr Organic has a extensive range of products. They strive to use organic ingredients and where they can not be used they always source sustainable natural alternatives. They never use parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), perfumes or artificial fragrances. Perto-chemicals such as paraffin and petrolium are avoided, plant based oils and extracts are used. I buy mine from any Holland & Barrett store.

Dr Organic tooth paste is surprisingly great. Occasionally when I use a brand like Colgate or Aqua Fresh my mouth feels full of chemicals.

Dr Organic the Moroccan Argan range is combined with organic oils to leave the skin deeply nourished whilst helping to preserve the skin against premature aging. The range contains a rich source of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. Mediterranean women have used Moroccan argan oil for centuries.

When it occurred to me how many toxins we breathe in and touch daily from household products, washing up liquid, washing detergent, cleaning sprays it astonished me just how many chemicals are seeping into our skin all the time. You can smell a clean chemical cleaned bathroom for days. And washing your plates and bowls with chemicals then eating off them that has to be bad for you! No wonder Cancer rates are increasing so much as we use more of these products daily. I changed everything I use.

Method have a great range of products using non-toxic plant based ingredients. They even sell these at your local Homebase store.

I use the ecover range for washing my clothes and dishes.
